Hello, lovely folks! I’m Aileen, an English tutor living in Glasgow. Among other things, I’m very enthusiastic about both people-centred politics and, more recently, hiking. This sponsored walk is my way of bringing the two together because I want to help people who are currently living as refugees, fleeing their homes.

So here I am, asking you to dig deep and donate whatever you can!

I’ll be walking from Glasgow to Loch Lomond (23 miles) with my wonderful friend, Katie, and our four-legged companion, Lily. If the weather looks semi-decent we might even incorporate a costume!

When I was in Ardersier (near Inverness) to visit my parents recently, my mum took me along to Dingwall on one of her regular sorting shifts at the donation centre. I was struck by the level of organisation of The Highlands Supports Refugees, and knew instantly that I wanted to help out some more by raising funds to facilitate the ongoing transportation of donations.

Clichéd as it sounds, every little really does help. Each and every pound will make a tangible difference to the lives of folk who are facing horrible struggles right now.

My own motto is ‘work as if you live in the early days of a better world.’ In my version of that better world, Europe is more inclusive. Let’s work towards that together.
