A couple of weeks ago a call for help went out from the kitchen, which provides food for the refugee camp in Calais “Le Jungle”

There are 5 kitchens, run entirely by volunteers of all different backgrounds including many from the camp itself,  and almost entirely on donation with virtually no funding in a constantly changing environment. Each kitchen cooks for anything up to 2500 people per day. They aim to provide refugees with 1 hot nutritious meal every day.

They were looking for people to come for a chunk of time, especially any one with Head Chef experience who could take the reins in the kitchen and give some of the long term volunteers a desperately needed break.

I realized that was me.

I will be working there for 2 weeks from the 20th of Feb to the 5th of March and I really need your help. My Partners son Clancy Fahey who many of you will know from working in the Bakehouse will be joing me for the last 5 days bring fresh physical and moral help.

I have aimed high with my goal amount because every £££ you give me will not only help me get to Calais and support me with accomodation  but once I am there and running a kitchen I will spend that money at the wholesalers buying food to go into the meals. Your donations will have a direct impact.

Help me get to Calais, help me create delicious nutrious meals for thousands of people and help me releive some of those incredibly barve and hard working volunteers who have been hard at it for months.
