Talamh Housing Cooperative is an intentional community founded in 1993 on ecological and egalitarian principles. It’s 16th Century listed farmhouse and courtyard buildings are complemented by organic gardens and polytunnel, and 50 acres of woodlands, meadows and wetlands. Over the years it has been home to over 50 people and their friends, dogs, cats, chickens and horses. Thousands of visitors from all over the world have passed through as volunteers, workshop participants and events attendees, adding to the vibrant atmosphere.

On 14th March 2016 a devastating fire destroyed the roof and the inside of the main house, taking with it communal kitchen and living rooms, and 5 bedrooms. It is not known at this point how the fire started but thankfully none of the 7 residents were hurt. Unfortunately many belongings, including valuable communal tools and equipment were lost.

We want to be able to carry on living at Talamh and functioning as a community while the rebuilding of the house takes place. This is likely to take over a year due to the extent of the damage. We need your help to carry out essential work to new communal and personal living areas, improving existing spaces and creating new ones. There is much work to do and your contributions are greatly appreciated.
